Sapa market ( Saturday)
Sapa's main attraction is its market. On Saturday afternoons , minority villagers ( primarily Hmong) come to sell their goods, including colorful shirts, musical instruments and jewelry. The Dao instituted the market as a "Love Market" where friends from villages near and far came to meet, sing, impress, and entertain each other.
Can Cau market ( Saturday)
Can cau market is one of the most fascinating open-air markets in the region, specialising in livestock. It's 20km North of Bac Ha and just 9km south of the Chinese border. Can Cau attracts a large number of Chinese traders, evidenced by the booming dog trade here.

Bac Ha market ( Sunday)
The hill surraounding Bac Ha are home to the Flower Hmong, Red Dao, Black Dao, Tay, Nun g, Lachi and Phu La people. Each market has its own distinct flavor, but most visitors option to visit Bac Ha of its own Sunday market ( open from 6am to 3 pm).
Flower Hmong come from all around to buy animals, clothes, and accessories. The market is also known for its food stalls, which serve cheap dishes. Coming early allows you to watch as locals stream in from the surrounding hillside with dogs, pigs, cats and other goods to sell.

This Tuesday market is about 35km from Bac Ha. You can get here via a fairly good road, or by road and river; .
Lung Phin Market ( Sunday)
This small market is between Can Cau merket and Bac Ha town, about 12km from the town. It's less busy than other markets, and is open on Sunday. It's a good place to move onto once the tour buses arrive in Bac Ha from Sapa, and has a very real feel.
