Hong Son Temple

Location: Located in Hong Son Ward, Vinh City. 

Direction: The temple lies next to Vinh Market, one from Phan Dinh Phung Street or go along the Con Moc Riverside (near Vinh Market).

 

Hong Son Temple

At first it had the name Duc Ong Temple or Vo Mieu. The temple is located in Hong Son Ward, Vinh City. In the Anti US war (1964-1972), the lower sanctuary was ruined by bomb.

 

On the occasion of 210 years anniversary of Phuong Hoang Trung Do, the lower sanctuary was reconstructed in 1998 by the public funds of the Vinh City people's Committee.

 

Hong Son Temple is an excellent architectural relic, influenced by Nguyen Dynasty's architectural style. It still remains a valuable collection of statues. The temple was classified as national cultural historical vestige at the decision 144 QĐ/VH on August 30th 1984 by Ministry of Culture and Information.

 

Annually at Hong Son Temple has 3 grand ceremonies:

 

         - On the 3rd day of the third lunar month: Holy mother Lieu Hanh's death anniversary.

 

         - On the 10th day of the third lunar month: King Hungs' death annivasary.

 

        - On the 20th day of the August lunar month: Saint Tran Hung Dao 's death anniversary.

 

Hong Son Temple Festival

Place: Hong Son Temple, Hong Son Ward, Vinh City.

Time: The festival takes place three times in a year:

 

- On the 2nd and the 3rd day of the third lunar month: death anniversary of Holy Mother Lieu Hanh.

 

- On the 9th and 10th day of the third lunar month: death anniversary of Hung King.

 

- On the 19th to the 20th day of the eight lunar month: death anniversary of Tran Hung Dao.

 

The ceremony:

 

- On the afternoon of the 3rd day of the third lunar month: "Yet cao" ceremony.

 

- On the 3rd day of the third lunar month: grand sacrifices- offering ceremony at the temple.

 

- On the 9th day of the third lunar month: "Yet cao" ceremony.

 

- On the morning of the 10th day of the third lunar month: grand sacrifices - offering ceremony at the temple.

 

- On the afternoon of the 10th day of the third lunar month: thanksgiving.

 

- On the afternoon of the 19th day of the eighth lunar month: "Yet cao" ceremony.

 

- On the morning of the 20th of the eight lunar month: meeting for palanquin procession from meeting place to the temple, after that grand ceremony at the temple.

 

- Palanquin procession from the temple to the relics.

 

- On the afternoon of the 20th day of the eighth lunar month: thanksgiving.

 

The festival:

 

- Traditional folk games: The chess, human chess, cock fighting.

 

- Sport: volleyball, table tennis.

 

- Art performance: chau van song, Nghe Tinh's traditional song.

 

Can Linh Pagoda

Location:  Located in Cua Nam Ward, Vinh City. 

Direction: Heading to National Highway No.46, on the way to Nam Dan, cross Ho Cua Nam Tourist Site about 100m.

 

Can Linh Pagoda

Can Linh Pagoda is also called Su Nu because in this pagoda there are  only Buddhist nuns who have responsibilities and supervise the pagoda. It was built at the end of  Le Dynasty, on a high, dry and airy place at the southwest of Vinh City. It is in Cua Nam Ward, Vinh City, formerly in Vang Village, Yen Truong Canton, Hung Nguyen District. Con Moc River runs around the year at the east and the south of the pagoda.

 

Nearly 100 statues are worshipped in the pagoda. The most valuable in grandiose, sculpture art, epoch and content of profound man's heart is the statue of Gautama Buddha which is made of jack-fruit wood, red lacquer trimmed with gold and is placed in the centre of the sanctuary.

 

Can Linh Pagoda was classified as national cultural historical vestige at the decision 97QĐ/BT on January 21st 1992 by Ministry of Culture and Information.

 

 

Forest Garden – Quyet Mountain

Location: Five kilometres from Vinh city to the south. 

Direction: Heading to National Highway No.1A from Vinh City, near the Ben Thuy Bridge, according to West direction, you will come to Forest Garden – Quyet Mountain.

 

Five kilometres from Vinh city to the south, a huge attractive eco-tourist site named Lam Garden – Quyet Mountain is under development. From the top of Quyet Mountain, visitors can enjoy a broad scene of green hills and rivers as a beautiful picture of Nghe Region, where is characterized by heroic traditions. Getting here visitors can relive glorious victories of the nation and Nghe Region.
