Thay and Tay Phuong Pagoda 
Thay pagoda was built in the Ly Nhan Tong Dynasty ( 1072-1127) where was resided by the monk Tu Dao Hanh. He taught people to study, organising games such as shulltle kicking and water-pup-petry for people. People called him with respectfully name: Teacher , it means Thay in Vientamese.
Till then, this was the home of the art of water puppetry. The pagoda has a large relic complex of high artistic and architecture values with wonderful landscape.
Tay Phuong Pagoda was built during the 6th and 7th Centuries and has been restored serveral time since.The pagoda has aprroximately 80 statues of all sizes representing former monks who stayed at the pagoda. Vistiting at the Pagoda, we will see the architecture and wooden statues of the 18 arhats. Moreover, you can take part in traditional games such as puppet-play, tug-of war, cock fighting , chess .. at the foot of the hill in the festival day ( The 6th day of the third lunar month).
Itinerary:
We drive 30 km( 45 minutes) from Hanoi to TayPhuong Pagoda which was built in the 17th century, and is very famous for the 18 statues of La Han coated with lacquer paint. After that we visit Thay Pagoda which was first built in 11 century. This one is located at the foot of Thay mountain and has a neat setting. In here, you'll have a chance to see the oldest stage for performing water puppet right in the village lake. The trip takes half a day.
